In Tbilisi, Mikhail Fradkov, was elected head of the Council of CIS Heads of Government

In Tbilisi, opened the meeting by the Council of Heads of CIS governments.

Opening the meeting, Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said that the Commonwealth should be reformed. CIS must become an organization in which all States members will be able to realize national interests - Nogaideli said, stressing that, among these interests - respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States. Nogaideli also announced his intention to raise at the meeting the issue of unresolved conflicts in Georgia and its role in the process of the Commonwealth.

Arriving shortly before the meeting in Tbilisi, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov any statements before the meeting did not. As reported by Interfax in the State Chancellery of Georgia, after a meeting of CIS prime ministers, Fradkov will meet with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. Later, as expected, the head of the Russian Government to hold talks with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Also, in general, the protocol was approved on a phased lifting of restrictions in mutual trade. The protocol provides for the abolition of restrictions for some goods and services by 2012. However, at the council meeting, some countries (Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan) were in favor of shortening the lifting of restrictions. In particular, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said that would not sign the protocol, as presidents of Russia and Ukraine have agreed to lift restrictions in mutual trade in a shorter period - until the end of this year, RBC reports. Ukraine favors a more open and dynamic version of the lifting of restrictions, "- said Tymoshenko.
