Georgian vineyards were hit by frost

Unexpected frost in the mountains of Georgia have damaged vineyards of the famous "Khvanchkara" whose owners can keep up now with no harvest.

Thus, in the mountainous region of Racha, located in the west, the cold has destroyed much of the vineyards, and the damage is estimated not less than U.S. $ 6 million.

On the eve of experts of Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia went to Ambrolauri district where grown Khvanchkara. They clarify the scope of damage caused by weather, and local residents, meanwhile, have already started planting new seedlings of this grape variety, reported Interfax .

Note that Khvanchkara grows only in Ambrolauri District of Georgia, and in other areas it does not take root.
