Olympic champion "stole" her daughter

January 13 2007

Canadian athlete Miriam Bédard, who won two gold medals at the Olympics-94, released on bail pending trial.

Last Friday, she was extradited from the U.S. after two weeks in prison and appeared in court on charges of abduction with the Canadian territory of his own daughter without the consent of the former spouse.

Under the terms set by the court, Bédard can see his 12-year-old daughter Maud only in the presence of persons authorized by the court, she was not allowed to leave Quebec, and it surrendered his passport.

Problems with the Canadian justice system with the Olympic champion began in early October, when she and her daughter and her new husband Nimoy Mazar drove from Canada to the United States. Her former husband filed a complaint against the violation of the conditions of visiting his daughter. As a result, Bédard was arrested and spent nearly two weeks in a detention center, while the representatives of Canada and the U.S. worked out an agreement on her extradition in Quebec City, transmits television channel "Sport".
