Cork from a champagne bottle flies too fast

December 30 2008

German professor calculated the speed of flight tube from a bottle of champagne. It turns out that depending on the material from which it is made, the tube can reach speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour.

Experiments were conducted professor at the Institute of Physics and Physical Technologies Friedrich Balck. He explained that 40 miles - it's very fast. Therefore, those who are within reach, "departing from the bottle cork without braking the latter" will not be able in time to dodge it.

In other words, "after you hear a cotton, in time to duck and avoid hitting traffic jams virtually impossible." Professor experimented with bottles of fizzy contents, whose pressure was approximately 2.5 bar, according to ITAR-TASS .

In reality, it occurs when the champagne shake. The effect will be stronger if the pressure to bring up to three bar, and drink - warm. Then the velocity of the shot tube can reach the output from the bottle, and 100 kilometers per hour.
