Remains of ancient man found in Spain

In the mid 1990's Spanish anthropologists have discovered in the region of the skull age 780 thousand years. The results of this discovery, scientists have identified a new type - Homo antecessor (Man preceding), suggesting that this species is an ancestor of Neanderthals and modern human physical type.

Head of the Department of Anthropology London's Natural History Museum, Chris Stringer said that while no hurry to tie the recent discovery in the Sierra de Atapuerca of Homo antecessor. However, Stringer concurred with our Spanish colleagues, calling a new discovery is of exceptional interest.
