Traces of prehistoric Europeans found in Russia

January 17 2007

Modern humans began to migrate from Africa into Eurasia from 25 to 65 thousand years ago, suggests archeological finds made in the territory of Russia and South Africa.

An international team of scientists studied the ancient human skull found in the city Hofmire (South Africa) in 1952. Professionals through special techniques found that the age of the skull is 36 thousand years old, plus or minus 3000 years. In this case the shape of the skull are remarkably similar to skulls of people living at that time in Europe, the eastern parts of Asia and even Australia. The researchers thus concluded that the migration of modern humans in Eurasia began approximately 35-45 thousand years ago.

The theory of scientists confirmed findings made in the Russian Kostenki (400 km south of Moscow). Archaeologists during excavations at the site near the River Don discovered tools made of stone, as well as jewelry and figurines, which were allegedly made 45 thousand years ago. It is possible that it Kostenki is one of the first refuge of modern humans.

However, some researchers believe that human migration from Africa into Eurasia could begin much earlier - about 100 thousand years ago. One way or another, but all researchers agree that the early inhabitants of Eurasia migrated exactly with the territory of Africa. Informs Kompyulenta.
