Marine biologists have disproved the myth that seahorses are loyal to their partners. In fact, those animals in which males are being bred, flirt and mate several times a day with individuals of both sexes.

Scientists from 15 research centers for marine life in Britain and Germany studied 90 seahorses of three species in Australia, the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of La Manche.
They found that these animals are flirting with 25 potential partners a day, and Australian seahorses mate with females and males. Only some British seahorses faithful to one partner. Only 5 pairs of this kind of 22's fidelity.

Another discovery was a confirmation of bisexual behavior of these creatures. About 37 percent of sexual activity seahorses was drawn to the individuals of the same sex. Scientists have observed signs of courtship, including color changes, the intertwining tails and synchronized swimming. Information is processed in the British National Centre breeding seahorses in Weymouth.

A total of 1,986 "contacts" were recorded between males and females, 836 - between females and 346 - between males. Variety bolshebryuhih seahorses were the most inclined to polygamy. They cared for and mate with any other special, including seahorses other species, says Nature.
