New alien to the continent being, such as: spores, mites, lichens and mosses, began to appear in Antarctica. Unwittingly, they were recorded by scientists and tourists, and can damage life in the icy terrain.

Antarctica is known to all as an area where there are large numbers of penguins. However, recently scientists have discovered a new continent on the tiny organisms that are closely related to insects - moss. They fear that global warming may thus create favorable conditions for rats and mice.

A new species of grasses, which also has to take root and spread in Antarctica could become a major threat to the continent, with the melting of ice. "It is the sort of grass, which spreads everywhere and is already on most of the Antarctic islands," a spokesman of Australian Antarctic Division, the head of international research, titled "Aliens in Antarctica". "This creates an entire lawn grass," she said.

Invasive species for a long time destroying life on earth, from rabbits brought to Australia by European settlers to zebra mussels from Russia clogging pipes and piers in the Great Lakes of North America, and now they have a new goal - Antarctica.

Antarctica - the last area of the ancient environment, compared with the rest of the world. It was isolated Southern Ocean, and now people are starting to break down this barrier. New varieties come in part, because Clothing Antarctica visitors often contain seeds, spores or insect eggs. The most "affected" area of rats and cats became Macquarie Island in South Georgia. Elsewhere in Antarctica, grass was found under a Japanese research hut, and entire lawns were found near the Russian station. Also found a wide variety of fungi near an Australian station.

People try to take all methods to stop the spread of these organisms and creatures, and thus the number of people arriving in Antarctica is increasing. As the head of the Norwegian research station on the Antarctic territory is forbidden to import any living creatures, even the flowers on the tables of plastic. Over the last couple of years in Antarctica were found four species of mites, as well as some types of lichen that grows on rocks, reports Pravda.Ru .
