On-orbit assembly of complete Canadian robot
A few hours ago, two astronauts shuttle Endeavour began work in outer space: the Americans Rick and Robert Behnken Linnean finish assembling a Canadian robotic "Dexter." Mounting started at 0:51 Moscow time on Tuesday. Planned to test the robot functions.
Specialists will install collected during a previous spacewalk "Dexter" special platform for spare parts and tool holder. In addition, one of the tasks astronauts is to test and debug "Dexter" and its manipulators - "hands" of the robot. Being completely assembled, the Canadian robot arm, "Dexter" will be an important element in equipping the ISS - its task will be to conduct time-consuming work on the movement of goods outside the station.
In total during the 16-day mission, astronauts Endeavour's five scheduled spacewalks. During the next exit Behnken and Mike Foreman will replace the circuit breaker and the ISS will check shuttle's thermal insulation, the website of the American space agency.
