July 17 2007

In 30 countries with the most advanced economies, 60% of Internet users have broadband access.

Such data is published in its report to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. According to the report, the fastest and cheapest Internet access is available in those states where the operators switched to fiber-optic network.

For example, in Japan the rate of data transmission in broadband networks is 100 Mbps, which is ten times higher than the average in other countries of the Organization. Similar speed fiber-optic networks offer subscribers the operators in Sweden, South Korea and Finland.

Researchers also note: Japanese users of fiber-optic networks can receive and transmit data at the same speed, which is impossible when you access the Internet via ADSL-channels and cable networks. Furthermore, in Japan the lowest prices - subscribers pay 22 cents monthly for the use of the channel at a rate of 1 Mbps, while in Turkey, this service costs $ 81.13 per month. Connection to the broadband network at speeds of 1 Mbps with the cheapest costs in the United States - $ 3.18. Reports Kompyulenta.
