The plane of the future fly without a tail

November 7 2006

British and American scientists have developed a plane that is much quieter and more economical than they are today, as well known for its unique shape.

Do airliners project SAX-40, invented of Cambridge University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, no tail, giving it a resemblance to a bat. However, the scientists propose to call their technology differently: the summer (mixed) wing.

The new aircraft fuel spending by 35 per cent less than the most economical of modern airliners. It is published in-flight audio, reports Reuters, is no louder than a washing machine. The aircraft can carry no more than 215 passengers and rises in the air until 2030.

Above the project for three years worked in a total of 40 researchers, reports the BBC.
