China has banned the open Internet cafes - March 7, 2007

March 7 2007

14 Chinese ministries, including the Ministry of Culture and Industry, released a notice stating that during 2007, local authorities should not authorize the opening of new Internet cafes.

In China there are about 113,000 Internet cafes. Many of them are smoke-filled rooms with rows of computers that are configured for online games.

The Chinese government endorses the use of Internet for education and business but tries to protect citizens from the devastating impact of the World Wide Web.

Legislators believe that these points generate growth and teenage delinquency, as well as contribute to the development of Internet addiction. Tells MIGnews.
