The Legend of Narayame "left without a narrator

In Tokyo at the age of 79 years died on the legendary Japanese filmmaker Shohei Imamura.

Shohei Imamura (Shohei Imamura) - one of the most famous directors in Japan, he was considered the most distinguished director of the country after Akira Kurosawa. Imamura twice received the top award at the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or: in 1983 - for the film "The Legend of Narayame» (Narayama bushiko), and in 1997 - for the painting "Eel» (Unagi).

The last film directed by "Warm Water under a Red Bridge" (2001) participated in the competition at the Cannes Festival and successfully went to the Russian hire, informs STRC Culture.
