Hollywood writers have concluded a new contract
On the eve of the Guild of Hollywood screenwriters, who two weeks ago decided to end the 100-day strike, voted overwhelmingly for signing a new contract with the studios. Terms of the agreement, apparently, now will not "bondage".
For signing a new three-year contract voted 93,6% of the 4,060 guild members in Los Angeles and New York. Under the contract, writers will receive, in particular, more money from the sales of video, distributed on DVD, as well as through Internet and mobile phones.
Profit from the American entertainment industry, according to experts, is about $ 30 billion annually. More than two-thirds of that amount - the profit from sales of DVD: in 2005 the market for video products for home viewing in the U.S. totaled $ 24 billion. Under the old contract, the writers received 5 cents on each sold video media with the recording film, a screenwriter who they were. Now everything will be different, reports AP.
Recall that the writers who represent the interests of thousands of writers on strike, demanding larger payments from sales of recordings. Screenwriters have stopped work in early November 2007, having broken the ceremony Golden Globes and at the time would jeopardize even the legendary "Oscar".
