Theater Festival NET opens in Moscow

November 27 2006

From 27 November to 6 December in Moscow to host the eighth International Theatre Festival - New European Theatre (NET).

Festival organizers said that "nearly 10 years NET introduces Moscow audiences with the best world dramatic art.

In Moscow, the first time were shown the work of such masters of the European theater, as Alvis Hermanis, Grzegorz Yazhina, Arpad Schilling, Kristian Smeds, Thomas Ostermeier, Michael Talhaymer, Joseph Naji, Oskaras Korsunovas.

"Every time the festival presents a new perspective, a new slice of the European theatrical process. The central theme of NET-2006 is a nonverbal theater" - said the representative of the organizing committee of the festival. He stressed that in most performances, selected in the festival program this year, word or sound in general, or its volume and value is minimal.

"On the one hand, it is a marker of theatrical globalization: removed the issue of language barriers for foreign visitors - said the organizer. - On the other hand, is a consequence of the relativity of all and everything in the world today. The word no longer equal. Body language, as in play "Hospital", the language of space in "Do not look back," the language of things and textures in the "Fauste3" Confidence is often more than the usual words.

Guests NET-2006 will be as numerous members of the festival (Russian Engineering Theatre AXE, director Alvis Hermanis), and new names for the Moscow audience and theater groups (Jo Stromgren, Francois Tanguy, Tristan Sharps, the Israeli Theatre "clip").

"The festival will be presented to a variety of performances: as the genre - environmental theatre, contemporary dance, plastic Theatre, objects," traditional "Drama Theatre, and the tone - from the intimate (" Sonia "Alvis Hermanis) to severe (" Hospital "Yo Stromgrena)", - said the representative of the organizing committee.
