March 28 2008

U.S. District Court issued an unusual Lucerne verdict: Three Latino criminals, robbing passers-by in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania in May 2007 instead of prison should learn English.

On court two victims said that several people, among whom were the defendants, drew to him on the street with a request to share the marijuana, and then hit on the head and threatened with a gun. Moreover, during the trial, all three defendants needed the help of an interpreter, because they do not know basic English.

According to the sentence, convicted Luis Reyes, Ricardo Dominguez and Rafael Guzman-Mateo would have to go to jail for a term of 4 to 12 months, but Judge Peter Olsevski suddenly decided to help these young people - they will be released on parole, that will learn language and find a permanent job in the U.S..

However, if one year the men will not give English test, they must serve the full sentence, reports BBC.
