EU to fight against cybercrime

February 8 2008

European Agency for the network and information security (ENISA) has presented the first study of European Information Sharing and Alert System (EISAS), which was created to inform businesses and citizens in the European Union (EU) on threats, vulnerabilities and attacks.

The study concludes that the best way the EU to facilitate information exchange is to take on the role of facilitator, moderator of the discussions between the national systems of information sharing and alert, and "keeper of good practice", instead of centralizing their functions.

In the proposed roles for the EU includes support for new national systems in the member states. Also, the EU is given the role of mediator between the Union member countries for policy protection of information. In addition, the EU can collect and analyze "good practices" of experts from different countries and, if necessary, propose the optimization in a particular area of information security, transfers SNews.
