Draft poems McCartney is estimated to be 300 thousand dollars

December 5 2006

Autograph text of the famous song of The Beatles "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", written by Paul McCartney in 1969, put up for auction at Christie's with an estimate 300 thousand dollars.

Manuscripts McCartney rarely appear at auction: the last time one of them was sold six years ago. The song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" was included in the eleventh album by The Beatles - "Abbey Road". McCartney wanted from it was made a separate single, but the other band members opposed to this. John Lennon later said that the entry and assembly of this song had been spent more money than the entire disk "Abbey Road". It is believed that the conflict over "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" hastened the disintegration of the group.

In addition to autograph McCartney house Christie's auctioned audiotape in 1973 with the previously unpublished interview with John Lennon. Its experts have estimated at 25-30 thousand dollars. For the same amount is expected to sell Lennon's letter to readers of the journal "Disc And Music Echo" about the political situation in Ireland, writes the newspaper The Times.
