The mystery of life on Earth: it all started much earlier

About 8 billion years ago Earth was a red-hot ball. Gradually, releasing heat into space, it was cooled, and on its surface formed solid crust, which is continuously operated melted millions of volcanoes. Bark thickens and the water were part of the hot substance, and the atmosphere filled the basin.

According to a hypothesis about the origin of life on Earth, the Soviet scientist AI Oparin, in water was dissolved by a huge number of chemicals which, entering among themselves in various reactions over billions of years, have led to the formation of organic matter .

Recently it became known that life on Earth originated 700 million years earlier than previously thought, that is at least 3.5 billion years ago. This is the conclusion reached by researchers from Tokyo Institute of Technology, headed by Professor Yuitiro Ueno. In the geological layer, date from this period, they found the prisoner in quartz methane. According to experts, the methane produced bacteria , presumably lived in the warm waters of the ocean floor.

Methane contributes to the overall temperature of the Earth's surface. Scientists believe that he has caused warming of the planet in the Archean era, when the conditions were created for the development of various forms of life .

The fact that the observed methane is a product of vital bacteria, indicates its constituent carbon isotope with atomic weight 12. Unlike carbon-13, this element occurs in living organisms.

Earlier, a geologist from the Canadian Space Agency Ozinski Gordon suggested that a key role in the emergence of life on Earth played meteorites. He studied in detail the 24-kilometer impact crater on Devon Island (Canadian Arctic Archipelago) and found that in place of a meteorite have conditions suitable for the development of primitive life forms. In particular, because meteorites formed hydrothermal specific education, kept up to date in the form of tunnels with a diameter of several meters.

Formed as a result of impact fractured rocks are favorable habitat for microbes, and the crater itself in those days was a well-protected from external influences pond, which is also important for the development of life .

Meanwhile, a team of scientists from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada), made a rather strange statement: if life exists on Titan, then it may well be the birthplace of the planet Earth.

It is such an opportunity figured out Gledman Brett and his colleagues. They concluded that through the Earth's atmosphere into outer space could fly only fragments of rocks to the original size not less than 3 meters. This could only happen as a result of the impact of a powerful explosion - which could only happen in the collision of the planet with an asteroid 10-50 km in diameter.

modeled such a catastrophe, the research team found that each such collision can make it into space up to 600 million pieces. Those who were moving at relatively high speeds - about 6 km / c, - a period of about a million years could reach the orbit of Jupiter and Saturn.

About 100 of these fragments could reach the outskirts of Jupiter's moon Europe. Some of them are under the influence of the gravitational field of Jupiter could accelerate to higher speeds - 25-40 km / c. If these splinters flew almost as far in Europe, the impact of its icy surface brought them into the dust.

The fact that bacteria are able to withstand this "journey", shown in the analysis of fragments of the exploded space shuttle "Columbia", where scientists found the bacteria.

According to Gledmana and his colleagues, before the Titan could reach the outskirts of about 30 fragments of terrestrial rocks from each collision of the planet with a large asteroid. Earthly bacteria could easily become "passengers" on these fragments. Presumably, the history of our planet consists of dozens of such confrontations.
