Tunguska meteorite: unexpected version

March 16 2006

June 30, 1908 at 7:00 am local time near the Stony Tunguska river sparkling fireball streaked across the lower atmosphere and exploded at a height of about 6 km. Explosion (according to some sources - a series of explosions), shook the taiga and fell a tree on the area of 1885 square meters. km, was equivalent to the atomic bomb capacity from 12.5 to 40 megatons.

People felt the blast wave at a distance of thousands of kilometers from the epicenter. Instruments have recorded that the air wave of the Tunguska meteorite, at least twice skirted the entire globe. Caused by the explosion of the earthquake was observed not only in Irkutsk, Tashkent, and Tiflis, but also in the Berlin area.

After about 5 minutes after the explosion started in a magnetic storm recorded in Irkutsk. It lasted more than 3 hours and have been very similar in its parameters perturbation Earth's magnetic field observed after high-altitude nuclear explosions.

Over a huge area, bounded by the Yenisei, in the south - a line of Tashkent - Stavropol - Sevastopol - North Italy - Bordeaux, in the west - the west coast of the Atlantic, disappeared overnight. Over the past three days - from June 30 to July 2, 1908 - here the night was bright, resembling "white nights" in northern Europe.

In this territory were also observed other abnormal optical phenomena - bright "colored" dawns, halo crowns around the sun, and in some places - a decrease of atmospheric transparency, reached in August, California and is explained, apparently, dusty atmosphere of the Tunguska explosion products. There is reason to believe that the Tunguska meteorite has affected even the southern hemisphere: in any case, this day was observed in Antarctica, an unusual shape and power of the aurora, the participants described the British Antarctic Expedition of Shackleton.

The district alleged meteorite repeatedly sent the expedition. But even after almost a century after the Tunguska explosion no one can clearly answer the question of what it was.

Today there are nearly 120 scientific and semi-fantastic hypotheses explaining the nature of the phenomenon. First speculated about the descent of the terrible Evenki god Agdy (iron bird, belching fire and thunder of heaven), flying fiery serpent, the repetition of the tragedy of Sodom and Gomorrah , and even the beginning of the second Russian-Japanese War.

Then, the Tunguska explosion was explained astronomical phenomena. Later still talking about the detonation of several fireballs, explosions aerolite, an unusual earthquake, eruption paleovolcano ...

Since 1927 in the Stony Tunguska meteorite fragments were looking for. Then was born version of the transformation of the meteorite fragments in the jet and gas.

In 1929, researchers decided that the blame for everything flying on a tangent meteorite.

Next bare facts, the Tunguska explosion - is:

1930 - an explosion of the cometary nucleus.

1932 - Earth's collision with a compact cloud of cosmic dust.

1934 - collision with a comet tail.

1945 - atomic explosion of the spacecraft.

1946 - Vehicle accident with Mars.

1947 - meteorite annihilation of antimatter.

1959 - The fall of the fragment nucleus of the planet Phaeton.

1960 - The detonation clouds of midges of more than 5 cubic feet. km.

1961 - the disintegration of a flying saucer

1962 - caused by a meteor electrical breakdown of the ionosphere to the ground.

1963 - destroyed the taiga, the electrostatic discharge of a meteorite.

1964 - the laser beam from space .

1965 - Invasion Earth ship with a snow man on board .

1966 - drop a piece of superdense white dwarf.

1967 - an explosion of marsh gas in the lightning strike.

1968-dissociation of water and the explosion of detonating gas.

1969 - comet of antimatter ...

And so on ...

One of the latest versions of the Tunguska meteorite was published in 2003. It sounded in the air of a local television researcher Yuri Lavbin Krasnoyarsk, about twenty years engaged in research of the phenomenon. Having examined the materials produced from space photography site of a meteorite, Yuri Lavbin concluded that all the past years, scientists have admitted a "serious mistake", believing that the outer body is rapidly approaching the Earth from east to west.

But he, as he seems to have found evidence the opposite - a body falls from west to east direction. According Lavbin, before the collision with the Earth, "there was a disintegration of the cosmic body is not less than 10 fragments, which are and must be sought in the Siberian area east of the Yenisei River is not as it was before, but west of it.

Despite the fact that Yuri Lavbin has "many supporters, check out his version is not possible - in the Tunguska Reserve not have the means to organize the expedition.

But perhaps the most original hypothesis related to the Tunguska meteorite, sounded recently at a meeting of scientists at the University of Leicester. Here Vladimir Shaidurov, head of the Institute of Computational Modelling, presented an alternative theory of global warming , rejecting a leading role in it of human activity.

According to calculations Shaydurova, changing the water balance in the upper atmosphere and, in particular - the distribution of ice crystals in the mesosphere, as well as fluctuations in the amount of water vapor, affect the Earth's climate is much more than all the greenhouse gases put together - both natural and released into the atmosphere by man.

"The most powerful greenhouse gas - water" - explains Shaidurov. Russian scientists have used a detailed analysis of changes in average temperatures over the past 140 years. According to him, until the early twentieth century had even a small chill. But this contradicts the current theory of global warming, which connects it with the emission of carbon dioxide, rapidly taking off from the very beginning of the industrial revolution.

about Shaidurov offers another option: a rapid temperature rise, which began between 1906 and 1909 may have had a very different reason, namely, the fall of the Tunguska meteorite. Shaidurov believes that such a global event could dramatically affect the heat balance of the planet. As scientists believe, a tremendous release of material into the upper atmosphere had violated "water" balance, changing the existing there permanently noctilucent clouds.
