Ninetynine and "White Ostrog": where Australia meets with Baikal ...

On October 18 at a music club FM-Club, a concert by the Australian band Ninetynine.

Before the welcome speech of musicians from the country of kangaroos came to the stage no less famous group of "White Ostrog. This is an instrumental duo from the shores of Lake Baikal: Yuri Matveyev and Artyom Yakushenko. Their contagious melodies, masterfully executed on Electroacoustic guitar and violin, is unlikely to leave indifferent any of the guests in the evening.

The sound of a band unique and unlike anything I have previously heard, songs flowed smoothly into one another, filling the hall with ethnic ambience. The duo was formed back in 1992, and since then the guys were creating music for plays and movies. Today, the group is very popular in the U.S.. Ballet "My love - the color green to the music of" forts "was nominated for the Russian theatrical prize" Golden Mask ".

The duo has toured extensively in Europe and the USA, taking part in prestigious international festivals, so their performance at this concert was a good surprise. The guys played eight fairly cheerful songs, one of which was devoted to Jimmy Hendrix.

After a short break, the evening closed dear guests from Australia - Ninetynine. The band formed back in 1995 as a solo project, Laura McFarlane, (the first drummer of the cult indie rock band Sleater-Kinney), and soon with new musicians found their own sound company.

Having been around for more than 10 years, they are loyal to the traditions of "independent" scene, deliberately ignoring all the laws of the music industry. Having released six albums on various independent labels worldwide, and has toured Europe, North America and Japan and New Zealand. The latest album "Worlds Of Space, Worlds Of Population, Worlds Of Robots» Group and presented to us.

Ninetynine played very melodic and lively songs for two-or three minutes, and somehow I am reminded of the domestic staff Southwake and even the famous Bjork. During the speech, two girls and boy were constantly changing tools, but it did not affect the overall level of their game.
