Not so long ago the American Film Institute has identified the ten best films of the year. By tradition Institute did not define clear favorites and does not allocate seats, just to name the top ten films of the year.

Ten best movies of year for many years. Films chooses jury consisting mostly of well-known film critics, filmmakers and experts. That year's jury sat 13 people.

1. "Games of the devil» (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead), director Sidney Lumet.

2. "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly» (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), directed by Julian Schnabel.

3. "In the bosom of nature» (Into the Wild), directed by Sean Penn.

4. Juno »(Juno), directed by Jason Reitman.

5. "Knocked Up» (Knocked Up), directed by Judd Apatow.

6. Michael Clayton »(Michael Clayton), directed by Tony Gilroy.

7. "Old Men» (No Country for Old Men), directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.

8. Ratatouille »(Ratatouille), director Brad Bird.

9. "Savage» (The Savages), directed by Tamara Jenkins.

10. Oil »(There Will Be Blood), directed by Paul Anderson.

It is noteworthy that the list of paintings are logged in as comedy for viewing with popcorn ("Ratatouille" and "Knocked Up") and fairly intelligent films. Films included in the list - are not accidental. Almost all have some claim to any international awards, and those that still do not claim now to be exact.

For example, a picture of "Michael Clayton" and "Oil" nominated for a Golden Globe Award (the second most prestigious cinema award) for best actor - in both movies played George Clooney.

Tape "for Old Men," adaptation of the novel by Cormac McCarthy, not more than a week ago, recognized as the best film of 2007. This is a sentimental film about Vietnam veterans, who made a not too successful attempt to sell a narcotic substance nature.

"Juno" - The film tells of the unhappy, joyful, and pregnant teens, won the Grand Prix of the International Rome Film Festival.

American Julian Schnabel noted "palm branch" for best director after the release of his film "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." This is a real story, telling about the paralysis of the chief editor of Elle.

Jadu Apatow - creator of the film "Knocked Up" is ranked first in the ranking of the most intelligent Hollywood stars, compiled by the magazine Entertainment Weekly.

It is worth recalling that the fall in the compilation of the American Film Institute - it is very prestigious, and not everyone succeeds. In any case, the list of the Institute are those movies that really worth a look.
