But unlike the previous thirteen current celebration was held at the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre - Transfer associated with the reconstruction of the main building of the main theater of the country.

The winners of this year, among the dancers and choreographers from different countries announced the international jury, headed by Yuri Grigorovich.

Chairman of the jury spoke about the significance of the prize "Benois de la Danse" in contemporary ballet:

- It's very interesting. The more often people will meet the ballet, the better. Opportunities are not so much. When there are professional people is always good.

During the presentation of different awards are kind of unity of modern and classical ballet. How do you feel about that?

- In my opinion, all movements are good - and the modern and classical. It is important that it was interesting. Can be boring and can be an innovator committed to the original tradition. "Innovation" - this is not the direction. It is foolish to say "I'm an innovator." I believe that the new - is not synonymous with good.

This year, the elected representatives of the international jury, headed by the legendary Yuri Grigorovich, were:

- Choreographer Boris Eifman Ballet of "Anna Karenina", staged by the St. Petersburg Boris Eifman Ballet

- Lead singer of the National Ballet of Korea Kim Chow-won and Mariinsky Theatre soloist Ekaterina Kondaurova

- Soloists: Leonid Sarafanov (Vienna State Opera Ballet), and Van Dee (International Competition of Contemporary Dance in Nagoya).

Swedish choreographer Mats Ek has become a prize in the most honorable nomination for a Life in Art ".

From the very first years of existence, "the ballet Benoit, who began his" life "in 1992, Russians have always been among the favorites of the Prize. The first Russian champion, became the Nadezhda Gracheva.

The author of the prize statuette became famous Parisian sculptor Igor Ustinov - a descendant of prominent dynasty Benoit, son of the famous actor Peter Ustinov. Igor is proud of its Russian roots, with lots of love belongs to the Russian art.

Igor Ustinov spoke about the importance of the composition prize:

- A man and a woman trying to anticipate each other: what they will. But all that they can - it just twisted his shadow. That is why the two sculptural dancers dance on the surface of the mirror. As for the reasons that prompted me to create this award - a tribute to my ancestors.

April 26 will be a charity gala concert "Stars Benoit - winners of different years with the participation of ballet dancers - Julie Kent, Alina Cojocaru, Nikolai Tsiskaridze and others. Proceeds from the concert will go to provide material support to veterans of the ballet.
