The advent of "Mighty Skorohodov"

December 6 2006

The Mighty Flyers for many years as West Coast jump blues - a mixture of Chicago blues with elements of a Los Angeles post-war jazz, swing and R & B. Several times they became the winners of the prestigious William Handy in the category "Best Team of the Year. The Group has been around for a long time, but its creator was the same musician, taken a liking to speak bars - a unique Rod Piazza.

Rod Piazza was born on Dec. 18, 1947 in Riverside, California. Even in childhood he became interested in blues and at the age of 16 years, organized group. In 1967, Piazza gathering of musicians for the project The Dirty Blues Band, which some time later renamed in Bacon Fat. Even while Rod is actively using reception musical "duel", which he organized together with bandmate George Smith. Then Piazza left the band for a long time working with other teams, and one of the main achievements of NGOs is recording solo album.

Rod had a chance to speak with many famous blues musicians. These include BB King (BB King), Big Mama Thorton (Big Mama Thorton), T-Bone Walker (T-Bone Walker), Big Joe Turner (Big Joe Turner). In the 80th, he produced the albums of artists such as Jimmy Rogers (Jimmy Rogers), Smokey Wilson (Smokey Wilson), George "Narmonika" Smith (George "Harmonica" Smith).

His album 2003 "Modern Master the Best of Rod Piazza / 1968-2003" is called among the most interesting garmoshechnyh compilations in recent years.

Piazza plays both diatonic and chromatic harmonica on. In this manner of playing Rhoda quite unusual and expressive, but if you listened, you can catch the influence on his work Jimmy Reed, Joe Turner, Irla Bostic, Johnny Otis, Joe Houston and some other musicians.

In 1976 he created the group, which was associated with his name over the past 30 years. As you probably guessed, we are talking about those "Mighty Letunov", or rather, "Mighty Skorokhod, a concert which will soon be in Moscow. By the way, where did such a peculiar name? I must say that the first band was called even more unusual: The Chicago Flying Saucer Band (literally - "Chicago Flying Saucer"). But the manager began to protest against such an option and suggested an alternative: "runners» (The Flyers). However, a group with that name already existed, and then decided to become a "powerful Highspeed» (The Mighty Flyers). Incidentally, over the past 15 years in the group had three lead guitarists, whose names are probably very well known to connoisseurs of blues: Junior Watson, Alex Schultz and Rick Holmstrom. These musicians - certainly evidence of high-level group.

Today the team The Mighty Flyers is one of the most played in the contemporary blues. Their concerts are always contained an element of the show, and the sounding of the music scene is unlikely to allow someone to be bored. Musicians have given many concerts in America, Canada, UK, Germany, Scandinavia and Japan, and everywhere were popular.

Under The Mighty Flyers are real professionals, they all - great musicians, but it should be noted participant of this team, a lady named Honey Piazza (Honey Piazza). She plays the piano from early childhood, and has 19 years of age she had a chance to speak with Robert Lockwood Jr.. In 1973, she asked for it in the group of the genus, and after 3 years they were married. Honey Piazza - a remarkable pianist, composer, part-time - she wrote the song Boogie. A duel with the harmonic piano - one of the best episodes of the show.

ivye performances Rod Piazza and the team did not just praise - from them in ecstasy. So if this group is good, as they say, can be sure very soon - 9 December.
